


Charlie Baden joined Celestial Seasonings in 1975, just a few years after the company was founded. Today, as the company's Blendmaster, Charlie's primary responsibility is to blend tea leaves and other all-natural ingredients to achieve the greatest flavor appeal and to ensure consistency of quality and flavor in Celestial Seasonings' full line of teas. He personally tastes 100 percent of the company's green and black teas, as well as the other tea lines. As part of his responsibility to evaluate all Celestial Seasonings teas, Charlie tastes all potential ingredients the company's suppliers offer, and notes that 90 percent of all samples are rejected because they do not meet Celestial Seasonings quality standards.
Charlie's sensitive palate and tea-tasting is so developed that he can distinguish the country of origin for most tea leaves he tastesquite a feat given that the tea leaves used in Celestial Seasonings teas come from many different regions of the world, including China, North India, Indonesia and Africa.
