Kay Wright, Director of Botanicals Purchasing
With an extremely diverse upbringing—attending grade school in Germany, England, Scotland and South Dakota before graduating from high school in the Philippines and obtaining her B.A. from the University of Colorado—one could say Kay Wright developed a taste for the exotic. Her many travels serve her well as the Director of Botanicals Purchasing for Celestial Seasonings, where she is responsible for sourcing ingredients from more than 30 countries to insure that sustainable, high-quality ingredients go into each tea bag.
In addition to her involvement with Celestial Seasonings, Kay's interest in herbs and spices has inspired her active involvement with the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), the Herb Research Foundation (HRF), the American Botanical Council (ABC) and the U.S. Tea Association. From a Mexican earthquake to a flood in Thailand, Kay's tea travels are always adventuresome, so it is no wonder her favorite relaxing moment is sipping Devonshire English Breakfast on a lanai while overlooking an ocean sunset.
